Duramax Fuel Line Diagram The fuel cooler in our duramax trucks is located just forward of the fuel tank, at least that's where it is in my 2008 lmm. the purpose is to cool the hot fuel returning to the tank from the engine, the injectors, etc. if particles could get past the cooler, they would end up in the tank and should have been filtered out in the fuel filter. ron. Yfzgoody discussion starter. 657 posts · joined 2011. #1 · jan 1, 2016. noticed fuel on the ground under my truck. after doing some investigation, i noticed that one of the hard lines that i assume goes to something on top of the tank and then to the fuel cooler, is leaking. its a steel line, being held in place by those little plastic clips.
Duramax Fuel Cooler Fitting 687 posts · joined 2016. #1 · oct 5, 2018 (edited) awhile back someone posted an under hood and perhaps fuel tank to engine drawing of the replaceable soft lines that can lead to loss of prime at the primer hat. i've rebuilt the primer with good quality o rings last year, and up until yesterday, i did not have any more issues with loosing prime.
